Positive Impact in Negative Circumstances
Vision Statement:
The Gift of Pain is an organization striving to champion unique services to children's aid by providing personal life lesson presentations from adults in their own community.
In the following years, the Gift of Pain will support the needs of abused and neglected children by offering a "Safe House" with the abilitiy to perform the duties as a hub to connect children based on their individual needs.
Our organization will also focus on providing an Activity Center that will encourage freedom and structure, combined within an environment dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of children in our community.
We will obligate ourselves to the needs in our community therefore enabling our surrounding communities to observe our dedication and join forces in creating a movement that provides positive answers in negitive circumstances.

I have known Jeff Grantham for about 20 years. He has spoke to children, teens and adults for me, for about 2 years and over 25 times. He speaks from the heart and has a great story to tell any age group.
The knowledge and insight that comes out of one of his presenatations can be a life changing experience for those who witness it. Jeff has a lasting effect on those who come into contact with him. I am a retired police and probation officer. I now work as a therapist facilitating groups of kids, teens and adults with anger, agression and substance abuse issues.

Dear Mr. Grantham
I wanted to thank you so very much for coming to our school and speaking so openly to our fourth, fifth and sixth graders. The lessons that you have learned in your life are the ones that a majority of our students needed to hear.
So often, speakers try to paint a rosy picture. Oftentimes, the students cannot connect with these speakers, or even with many of their teachers. Like you, many of our students face neglect and abuse from parents, and at some point will need to deal with the temptations of drugs and alcohol. Your stories are still being discussed in the classrooms, and I am sure your that for a majority of the students your name and your story will stick with them for some time to come.
I appreciate that you were able to discuss your deeply personal history with our students. The fact that your life basically hit rock bottom, and yet you were able to dig yourself up and out of that hole, and create a positive lifestyle for yourself, creates hope for many students.
In fact, several students discussed the fact that they thought their lives were not great.... but they now realize that there are people who have over come things in their lives that have been even more challenging. It has also given many students the opportunity and understanding that the decision of where they end up is decided by them, and the choices they make.
As we continue to deal with so many issues that they do not train us as educators to deal with, I thank you whole-heartedly for giving us an opportunity to delve deeper into some of the troubling lives that our students face on a daily basis.
From the students, teachers and staff of Jackson Arts and Technology, we hope that your future continues to get brighter.
Thank you once again.
Sincerely,
Shannon M. Warren, M.S.Ed
